This Saturday - Afternoon Workshop in Toronto

If you've been wanting to try Yoga for Geeks, but have been too nervous (or busy) to come to a regular class - don't miss this special workshop! Please join me for my last Toronto teaching engagement of 2007.

What: a Saturday afternoon class for serious beginners and stiff people, as well as for anyone interested in learning how to prevent and work with existing repetitive strain injuries, and/or other work-related pain. ALL are welcome!

This will be a mostly chair-based yoga class. We'll stretch out and explore:

  • the arms and shoulders - how to stretch out the connective tissue that gets tight from too much keyboarding and mousing
  • the hips - often tight from too much sitting
  • the chest - often restricted due to hunching over a computer
  • the spine - to learn what good alignment feels like
  • anything else you identify as a sore spot or area of concern.

Come and learn some general principles for stretching and breathing, and practice listening to the body and the feedback it offers.

Why bother? Because a modern work-life takes a toll on the body, but it really doesn't take much to start to feel better. Increased mobility, better balance, and enhanced mental clarity are commonly reported benefits.

Where: Indoor Playground, 364 Richmond Street West, Toronto, top floor

When: Saturday, November 24th, 2007. 2pm - 3:30pm

Cost: Sliding scale, $10 - $25.

Please bring a yoga mat, or let me know if you need to borrow one.

No yoga clothes required - but please dress comfortably.

RSVP to info@yogaforgeeks.com to reserve your place!

Toronto Launch: Yoga for Geeks at Indoor Playground

Have you ever suspected that sitting at your desk all day isn't very good for your body?

Do your shoulders ache, or your hips feel stiff? Is your back ever sore?

Do you have trouble chasing after your kids - or your partner! - when it's time to play, because you're feeling old and stiff?

Do you feel like you spend too much time in your head?

If you can relate to any of the above, then please join us for the Toronto launch of Yoga for Geeks! You'll learn some stretches to address common complaints, and enjoy an opportunity to relax. It's never too late to begin making friends with your hard-working, oft-ignored body.

WHAT: a short "yoga" class, specifically tailored for people (male or female) new to yoga, and/or people who would never in a million years set foot in a regular yoga studio. After class, we'll retire our relaxed selves to a patio nearby for beverages (can't have you getting too healthy all at once!)

WHO: YOU, and all the geeks you know. (invite others, or blog about it!)

HOW MUCH: pay what you can – $10 suggested donation

The Fine Print:

  • please don't eat dinner right before class – though a snack an hour or two before is fine (this won't be strenuous)
  • suggested attire – as long as it's not tight, you're fine. shorts would be good, especially if it's a hot day
  • if there is sufficient interest, i will consider running a regular or semi-regular class

Thanks and I look forward to seeing you there!
